RACE 2

Sunday, November 6

roanoke, VirginiA

Explore Park

COURSE

The course is just under 4 miles in length, consisting of 55% singletrack, 40% doubletrack, and 5% gravel roads, with approximately 460 feet of elevation gain per lap.

Racers will line up for the start in the picturesque farm village area and take a fast lap around the infield before heading out for the heart of the course. Prior to reaching singletrack they'll have to tackle the biggest climb of the day along a gravel road, climbing .25 miles at an average gradient of 8%.

Racers will enter the woods half a mile from the start at the highest point on the course. From here they will face 2.25 miles of uninterrupted singletrack, with plenty of short, steep climbs and flowy descents. The trails are just technical enough to challenge advanced and intermediate riders, but still remain safely within the ability level of the beginners. There are numerous passing opportunities for riders with the skill and racing savvy to take advantage of them.

After completing the singletrack on a fast downhill, racers will exit the woods and find themselves on the banks of the Roanoke River. From this point they will face a flat out sprint for nearly a mile back to the starting line. The course ends with a dramatic uphill sprint to the finish line along a steep gravel road where many final battles will be fought throughout the day.
